Camera sensor technology advances rapidly and shooting videos in high speed has become a common feature on both consumer cameras and smartphones. There are many options for shooting around 200-300fps in HD (1080P) resolution (Sony, Black Magic, GoPro, iPhone) however frame rates of 500fps and more still require specialist high speed cameras.

To this end, the Photron BC2 HD is a superb and cost effective option for HD high speed shoots. Whether you are filming TV programmes, sports, animals, special effects, dancers, musicians, promotional videos, the Photron BC2 can produce the high resolution images you require. Used in conjunction with an Atomos Samurai HD-SDI recorder (Apple Pro Res HQ movies), it becomes a computer-less, easy to use, dry hire system. We have an experienced high speed cameraman in Ed Edwards should you need a competent operator.

A stock footage service is available. Slowmo can film in full HD, up to 2000fps, small set-ups involving liquids, inanimate/natural objects, etc, with full input from yourselves.  Previous examples have involved dripping blood onto earth, silks in the wind, sugar granules falling onto to shiny surface.

History

Over the years Slowmo has been part of the digital high speed age that has revolutionised the broadcast industry. Slow motion footage is now commonplace in commercials, television programmes and music videos. It has filmed approximately 100 commercials for major brands such as Pepsi, VW, Audi, Direct Line, McDonalds, Ribena and Finish Diamond Standard. It has provided high speed cameras for several series of The Cube on ITV, Richard Hammond, The One Show, CBBC plus an extensive list of BBC Natural History programmes. Natural History film making has been a big advocate of high speed and Slowmo has been providing camera kit for major productions since 2005. Its Photron cameras have travelled the world capturing some of the iconic footages we have seen on television, for example, great white sharks breeching out of the sea whilst hunting seals and red salmon negotiating grizzly bears whilst making their way up river.
